What are the
symptoms of varicose veins?
The symptoms of varicose veins are commonly as follows-pain and
swelling of the legs, aching legs, discoloration of the skin
around the ankles, itching, fatigue and night cramps, and in
severe cases bleeding due to non-healing ulcers.
What are varicose
vein and spider veins and what causes them?
Varicose veins are incompetent veins that appear under the skin
and are usually blue in color. They can become enlarged due to
pooling of blood. This occurs when the valves in the veins fail
to keep the blood flowing in one direction that is towards the
heart. This condition causes pain and swelling, night cramps,
change in skin color and severe cases ulcers. Spider veins are
small blue and red vessels visible within the skin, usually on
legs but sometimes on face and chest.
What is
the treatment available at Arizona Vein and laser for varicose
veins?
The most modern and latest technology available at the center
is called EVLT (endovenous laser ablation therapy). A laser is
used in a forty-five minute procedure to close the incompetent
vein. This procedure is performed right at the facility/office
under local anesthetics.
Will I have
to miss work after the laser surgery?
No. there is no down time with EVLT. You are encouraged to walk
and get back with your normal activities.
Will my insurance
cover this procedure (EVLT)?
Yes, most insurance plans cover and pay for this procedure if
it is deemed medically necessary. We also accept credit card
and offer financing
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a treatment of diseased vein using a saline
solution which is injected into the veins sometimes with the
help of ultrasound. This solution irritates the vein valve and
then closes them.
Will my insurance
pay for this procedure (sclerotherapy)?
Not always if this is done for cosmetic reasons, your insurance
will not pay for it. It depends upon the diagnosis and condition
of the disease.
What is Micro-Phlebectomy?
Micro-Phlebectomy.is also one of treatments for varicose veins
performed right at the facility. It involves removing of the
varicose veins using a tiny incision.
Will my insurance
pay for micro-phlebotomy?
Yes, if this is considered medically necessary.
How is an
ulcer treated at Arizona Vein and Laser Institute?
The treatment of ulcer is an on-going process where it takes
time to see visible results. It includes one or all of the treatments
mentioned on this paged. Dr. Sharma has seen good results with
laser/sclerotherapy of the perforators.
